Images, software and map data
Different parts of Mapilio have different terms. Publishing source code does not automatically license the imagery or every dataset produced from it.
Public imagery
Our published imagery policy identifies CC BY-SA (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike). This permits sharing and adaptation, including commercial use, subject to attribution and ShareAlike conditions. It is not a non-commercial license. Uploads and Mapilio's use of contributed images are governed by our terms and conditions. Check the applicable license notice before reuse.
Contributing to OpenStreetMap
Our terms expressly allow extracting information from Mapilio images for contribution to OpenStreetMap under the OSM Contributor Terms. This permission is distinct from the license for copying or adapting the images themselves. Mapilio supports OSM and is independent of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
Source code
The mobile app source code uses Apache 2.0, with separately identified visual assets excluded from that grant. Always check the license and asset notices in each repository. A publicly visible repository without a license does not by itself grant open-source reuse rights.
Extracted datasets and services
The public imagery policy does not specify a blanket license for all AI-generated detections, map features or exported datasets. Check the terms attached to the particular dataset. Where they are not stated, contact us to clarify the permitted use before redistribution. Planned marketplace jobs will need explicit participation, payment and data-use terms; they do not change the existing OSM permission.
